Barrett-Jackson's First Collector Car Event in Las Vegas
Barrett-Jackson's First Collector Car Event in Las Vegas
Millions of TV viewers around the world will be able to watch Barret-Jackson's first "collector car" auction in Las Vegas on the Speed Channel on October 15th through the 18th, 2008. At two earlier events in 2008, Scottsdale and West Palm Beach, the collector car auctions attracted more than 340,000 attendees who bid more than $110 million to buy 1,672 collect cars. Barrett-Jackson expects the Las Vegas event at the Mandalay Bay Hotel to be its biggest event of the year with a selection of vehicles to appeal to both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers.
Barrett-Jackson has presented its "World's Greatest Collector Car Events" in Arizona for the past 37 years. However, Craig Jackson, owner of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, said in 2007 that he has had his last fight with the city of Scottsdale. Jackson said that he plans to launch a new and bigger auction in Las Vegas and scale back his annual Scottsdale event. Las Vegas Events, an arm of the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority, has been working with Barrett-Jackson to encourage his moving the auction to Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas events starts on October 15th with a party at the Mandalay Bay Beach to benefit Las Vegas's Lili Claire Foundation which supports kids with Autism, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome and other neurogenetic disorders. A 2008 Edition Ford Shelby GT Mustang one of just 100 ever built will be auctioned on opening night with all proceeds from the sale being donated to Lili Claire.
John Laub is the President of the CEO-CFO Group.
